Worcester Bosch vs Vaillant Boilers (2026): Which Wins on the Numbers?

A gas boiler installed in a UK home

Quick answer: On published data, Worcester Bosch edges the warranty contest — up to 12 years on the Greenstar 8000+ versus Vaillant’s 10-year Advance maximum — while Vaillant counters with stainless-steel heat exchangers and typically slightly lower installed prices (£1,700–£3,200 vs £2,000–£3,500; price guides, checked July 2026).

This is a head-to-head on public information only: Home Energy Quotes hasn’t lab-tested either brand. Everything below comes from the manufacturers’ own guarantee pages and UK price guides, checked July 2026. For the full background on each brand, see our Worcester Bosch review and Vaillant ecoTEC review.

Warranties: Worcester’s headline, Vaillant’s catch-up

Worcester Bosch wins on both the standard term (8 years on the 8000+ out of the box, against Vaillant’s 5) and the ceiling (12 vs 10). But neither maximum is unconditional: Worcester needs its own system filter and an accredited installer; Vaillant needs an Advance installer and a Boiler Protection Kit. Both void quickly without registration within 30 days and an annual service. The full conditions for every brand are in our warranty comparison table.

Build: the heat exchanger question

The most-argued difference between these brands in trade forums is materials: Vaillant fits stainless-steel heat exchangers across the ecoTEC plus range, while Worcester Bosch uses an aluminium-silicon design in the Greenstar. Stainless steel resists corrosion better on paper; aluminium transfers heat efficiently and is lighter. We can’t settle a longevity argument from published data — what we can say is that both companies stand behind their choice with the longest guarantees they offer, and a clean system with a magnetic filter protects either design far more than the alloy choice does. Anecdotally, engineers split roughly along the lines of whichever brand they trained on — another reason to weight the individual installer over the badge.

Price and running costs

Price guides in July 2026 put comparable installs slightly in Vaillant’s favour — an ecoTEC pro can be fitted from around £1,700, while Worcester’s entry points start nearer £2,000. Both brackets straddle our modelled national mid-point of £2,804 installed (new boiler cost guide). Running costs are a tie: both are ErP A-rated condensing designs within a couple of efficiency points of each other, worth £10–£15 a year at the October–December 2026 cap gas rate of 7.97p/kWh (Ofgem).

Controls, apps and hydrogen readiness

Both ecosystems are mature: Bosch’s EasyControl and Vaillant’s sensoCOMFORT/myVAILLANT platforms each offer app control, weather compensation and load compensation — features that arguably save more gas in practice than any brand-vs-brand efficiency gap, because they let the boiler run cooler for longer. Both manufacturers also state their current ranges run on a 20% hydrogen blend (context in our hydrogen-ready explainer). Call this category a draw and choose on the thermostat interface you’d rather live with.

What owners say

Independent review scores for both brands move constantly and blend boiler quality with call-centre experience, so rather than freeze a number here, we’d suggest checking each brand’s live Trustpilot page the week you buy — and treating any article’s snapshot, including ours, with caution.

Ownership costs are identical in structure for both: an annual service (typically £80–£120) is a warranty condition throughout, and both brands’ extended terms cover parts and labour — so during the guarantee, separate boiler cover mostly duplicates protection you already have. Factor the service cost into any ten-year comparison; it dwarfs the running-cost difference between the two brands.

So which should you choose?

  • Choose Worcester Bosch if you want the longest possible cover (12 years), the biggest installer network, and maximum familiarity when something needs fixing in year nine.
  • Choose Vaillant if you want stainless-steel internals and a slightly lower price for equivalent output — and you have a good Vaillant Advance installer locally to unlock the 10-year term.
  • Honestly? The installer’s quality matters more than this brand choice. A well-sized, well-flushed, well-serviced boiler of either badge should see out its warranty — get the sizing right with our boiler types guide and sanity-check quotes against our calculator and boilers guide.

FAQs

Is Worcester Bosch more reliable than Vaillant?

There’s no published, independently audited reliability data that separates them, and we haven’t tested either. Both back their flagships with 10–12 year maximum guarantees, which is the strongest verifiable signal available. If reliability is your top concern, prioritise a proven local installer and a written maximum warranty over brand folklore.

Which is cheaper, Worcester Bosch or Vaillant?

Vaillant, slightly, on July 2026 price guides: comparable combi swaps run £1,700–£3,200 versus £2,000–£3,500 for Worcester Bosch. Individual quotes vary more by region and job complexity than by brand.

Do both need accredited installers for the full warranty?

Yes. Worcester Bosch’s 10–12 year terms require a Worcester Accredited Installer plus a Greenstar system filter; Vaillant’s 10-year term requires an Advance installer plus a Boiler Protection Kit. Ask for proof of scheme membership before accepting a quote.
